November 2006 - WBQ's recent concert at Langley United Church was a great night of brass music! Among the highlights of the show was the world premier of composer Roy Sluyter's piece E're Wyndham  written expressly for the Wyndham Brass Quintet. WBQ was also very pleased to collaborate with Langley United's Music Director, Dr. Greg Caisley. Dr. Caisley performed with WBQ on 4 pieces written for organ and brass quintet, including the evening's finale, Toccata by Frescobaldi. WBQ would like to extend a very special thank-you to all the folks at Langley United for putting on a top notch production! WBQ would also like to thank all our friends and new fans for coming out and allowing us to share our music with you!

November 2006 -  The next WBQ concert will be one of the Concert Series sponsored by the Choir at Langley United Church. The date is Saturday Nov. 4th, 2006 at 7:30PM. Langley United Church is located at 5673 200th Street, Langley, B.C. Ticket prices are: Individual - $20.00, Senior/Student - $15.00, a 4 event pass can be purchased for $70.00, ($50.00 Senior/Student), and a 3 event pass can be purchased for $50.00, ($35.00 Senior/Student). For more info on the Concert Series, or to buy tickets please call: 604-530-5912 or 604-576-7424 or 604-530-4571. We hope to see all our friends and we look forward to making lots of new friends as well!

June 2006 - WBQ is pleased to announce the addition of our newest member, Mr. Brian Thomson on Trombone! Brian brings a wealth of experience to WBQ, and we are very excited he has signed on! In the past, Brian was an occasional sub in the quintet so asking him to join just seemed natural. We are indebted to our former trombonist Blythe Polreis for introducing us to Brian and recommending him as her replacement. Blythe is extremely busy with her playing activities these days and has left the quintet to pursue other projects. For more info on these two fine players have a look at their bios on the musicians page.

Jan. 2006 - Garth and Terry are pleased to announce the addition of two beautiful, bouncing... piccolo trumpets to the WBQ sonic arsenal! Both the WBQ trumpeters are getting up to speed with the new horns and hope to utilize them at the upcoming WBQ performances. There is also a rumour that Blythe has acquired a new soprano trombone of some sort! Tubist Kerry Hicks recently acquired a Yamaha YBB 641 tuba. This instrument really accentuates Kerry's rich tuba sound and the other WBQ members are diggin' it big time!

Summer/Fall????, 2006 - WBQ is tentatively planning a recording project! Still! We originally had planned for last summer but alas, we had some personnel conflicts and were unable to nail down a recording schedule. We are hopeful we will be able to get something "in the can" by the end of summer or fall '06, with a release in time for winter '06.

Mar. 11, 2004 - WBQ is excited about their upcoming Easter concert. We are very pleased to have Linda Szentes perform with us. Linda is a talented vocalist and pianist and has shared the stage with the WBQ in the past. Linda will be performing two pieces: the traditional Easter Hymn "Were You There" and a surprise piece from the era of the big bands arranged by our own Garth Balint!

Dec. 22, 2004 - WBQ is pleased to announce the Christmas "clubhouse concert" . This is a casual fun get together. We will play some music, hang out and maybe have a snack or two. All our friends are invited. Hope to see you there! For a map to the Wyndham Estates clubhouse, click here.  (may take a few seconds to download on a dialup connection).

Dec. 15, 2004 - WBQ would like to alert all lovers of brass quintet music about a rare event. Our good friends in the Touch of Brass Quintet are having their Christmas concert at the Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in White Rock, B.C. All the WBQ members will be in the audience and we highly recommend you don't miss this show! The Touch of Brass Quintet consists of five of Vancouver's finest brass players. Tickets are $15.00 each ($10.00 for seniors) and are available at Tapestry Music, 1335 Johnson Road, White Rock, B.C. For more info or to reserve tickets, you can contact Dave Sabourin at Tapestry Music: 604-538-0906. Hope to see you there!

Nov. 14th, 2004 - Our horn player, Anne Sluyter, has recently stepped in to fill a trumpet vacancy with the Douglas College Nightband playing along side fellow WBQ trumpeters Garth Balint and Terry Keller. (Welcome to the trumpet section Anne!). You can hear Anne, Terry and Garth in concert with the Nightband on Dec. 6th at the Douglas College Auditorium in New Westminster, B.C. Start time is 8pm, admission is free! The Night band will perform again on Dec. 12th at Calhoun's, 3035 W. Broadway, Vancouver, B.C. (No Cover).

Oct. 22nd, 2004  - WBQ played for the Granly Church " Mortens Aften" Dinner. A fun and casual event where male church members prepared dinner for an enthusiastic crowd accompanied by the music of The Wyndham Quintet.

This performance marked the debut of a new arrangement of I'll Fly Away by WBQ trumpeter Garth Balint. I'll Fly Away is a traditional spiritual tune featuring all of the WBQ members. The end of the piece culminates in a spirited improvisation by trumpeter Terry Keller. I'll Fly Away was a big hit,  and is now one of WBQ's favourite pieces. For a sample, check out the clips in the listening room.
